Car lease negotiation service: price, money factor, and fees

A car lease negotiation service that works on the numbers behind the payment: the selling price, the money factor, the residual, and the fees. The result is a lease you can actually read, where you know exactly what you pay.

The four numbers in every car lease

Dealers quote the monthly payment because it hides these. We negotiate each one.

Check a quote with the lease payment checker, or send it to us.

Price
Selling price, or capitalized cost. Negotiable exactly like a purchase price, and the biggest lever on the payment. The fee here is 1% of this number or MSRP, whichever is lower.
MF
Money factor. The lease's interest rate, written as a small decimal. Multiply by 2,400 to get an approximate APR. Dealers can mark it up above the lender's base rate.
Residual
Residual value. What the car is expected to be worth at lease end, set by the lender. Not negotiable, but it decides which cars lease well.
Fees
Acquisition, dealer, and disposition fees, plus any add-ons rolled into the lease. The acquisition fee is set by the lender, though some dealers mark it up. Most of the rest is dealer profit.

How to negotiate a car lease: questions buyers ask

Which parts of a lease can be negotiated?

The selling price, the money factor markup, the dealer fees, and any add-ons. Only the residual value and some lender fees are fixed.

What is a good money factor on a lease right now?

The lender's base (buy) rate for your credit tier on that model this month. Anything above it is dealer markup. Rates change monthly by brand and model, so we check the current figure for your car.

Can you negotiate a lease with a trade-in?

Yes, and the trade should still be negotiated separately. Putting trade equity into a lease lowers the payment, but that money is lost if the car is totaled early. See trade-in value.

Can you negotiate a car lease buyout?

Sometimes. The buyout price is set in your contract, but dealer fees on top of it, and the choice of where to finance it, can often be negotiated.

Is it cheaper to lease a car out of state?

It can be, when another region has better incentives or lower prices. Tax is usually charged where the car is registered. We handle the out-of-state paperwork when it is worth it.
